Ms. P was one of the most kind hearted, fair and interesting teachers I ever knew. She was a reason I wanted to be a teacher. I know her spirit will live on in all the students she taught, but the stars will twinkle a lot less bright without her in this world. Bright Blessings and my sympathy to the family. Thank you for sharing her with us all these years.

To the family of Ms Pomierski,

My deepest sympathies. She was my English Lit and Journalism teacher at St Barb's HS. I was Class of 89 and my last name was Davis. I wish I could attend the memorial but I live out of state now. I will always remember her smile, her interpretation of Shakespeare for us that made it come alive, and the fun times we had in Journalism class with the paper and yearbook. I learned a lot from her and will miss her terribly. God's love and comfort to you all in your time of sorrow. She is with the angels now as she was an angel here.

Ms. P. was probably the most influential teacher I had at St.Barbara High School. She had a way of instilling a love in whatever you do, to all her students. So sad to hear of her passing. God bless and prayers to her family.

Big P was my teacher for all 4 of my years at St. Barbara. We went to Europe together and I am so very lucky to have known Big P, she was not only a teacher to me but a mentor a classy lady who was educated and a beautiful person. Big P introduced me to the Great Gatsby and made me love To Kill a Mockingbird...she was a true lady and she was a great teacher and a fabulous person who I will so miss but am so glad I was able to know her. Rest in peace Big P...you are one of a kind and I have and always will be thinking of you.

Ms. P was the best teacher I ever had. I remember her so well at St Mary's and then for homeroom, English, Journalism and Yearbook at St. Barbara. Her smile was infectious her spirit youthful and vibrant. She inspired her students to achieve academic success and to think beyond the limits of our neighborhood. She definitely changed my life and I certainly would not have attended college without her teaching me to believe in myself. I said not a word in class for several years. She took my chin and said "Still waters run deep, dare to dream and explore the world you may someday change." She even wrote it in my yearbook. So thank you Ms. P. for giving yourself selflessly to so many students and I am sure family members. The world is a little less bright without you, Heaven is rejoicing for you surely are an angel. Love and peace to your family through our Faith in God at this time.

Big P... You gave me the broadway bug, you are the reason my iPod is filled with amazing show tunes. You made me love the Great Gatsby and Pride and Prejudice as literary works before film! I will remember the 4 years I spent as your student with love and appreciation! Heaven gained a beautiful angel!! May you rest in paradise.

My world just stopped. This woman made a huge impact on me during my High School years at Saint Barbara. She is beautiful, her heart was huge and she showed that she loved what she did for us girls. I saw her as a strong, independent woman. I wanted to be that. She loved her career and she ignited a fire in me to strive for the top. I wanted to achieve that. I had a horrible roadblock in reading comprehension. Her classes and her dedication helped me to gain skills to overcome. So much so that I walked out of her classroom loving Classic and English literature. One of the things I would be horrified to attempt to read let alone decipher. I, to this day, read snippets of Shakespeare and I always think of Big P. I even made it a point to visit the UK and Shakespeares home was on the agenda. I owe my success in overcoming my reading and comprehension issues all to this wonderful woman. The skills went forward with me to college and helped me to be successful there as well. As I sit here in tears at the thought of this beautiful shining star, one of my heroes, gone from this world... I think what a shame that no one else can experience the full feeling of support, and success that the loving heart of this educator, this mentor, had for us girls and all her students. The future has lost a gem. Us Barbians have lost a gift.
To the Pomierski Family I send you my condolences. There are no words that can replace Dorle. I hope that you will find joy in the celebration of her life that we as her students can give through the very different ways that she impacted our lives. I will be in attendance on Thursday to honor my mentor, my hero, my educator. May you find peace in this time of question. May God's loving hand guide you and keep you safe. Most of all, thank you for sharing with us the gift of Dorle. Nicole L Cregan- Swanson

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dorle. I was the "other English teacher" at SBHS from 1991-94, and it was my very first teaching job. She was so kind and helpful, which I've never forgotten. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember Dorle growing up in Bridgeport and Saint Mary's grade school. I had the privledge of accompanying her on guitar while she played piano at her sister's Felice and my Eighth Grade Ribbon Day ceremony. I remember her always being happy and her sense of humour. She has touched many lives in positive fashion. Please accept the sympathies of our entire family.

To the Pomierski family: My deepest condolences for the loss of Miss P. I had attended St. Barbara grammar school but not the h.s., so I never had the pleasure of being taught by her, although I always remember seeing her in the halls. I never really had the chance to know her until my son Ricky had her for English for the first time when he entered 5th grade, all the way through 8th grade when she became his homeroom teacher. She had such a beautiful spirit, so full of life, and cared so much for her students. My son learned so much from his time with her, he truly enjoyed her as a teacher – she was one of his favorites - and he is so distraught by this loss. My heart breaks for her whole family, and she will be truly missed! I hope by your faith you’re comforted in knowing she as at peace with our Heavenly Father, and that one day you will see her again.

Felice and family:
My thoughts and prayers are with you. "Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4. It is a difficult place to be in but eventually the pain will diminish though the longing will always stay. God bless you and comfort you.

My deepest sympathy to the Pomierski Family. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this time of sorrow. When I heard the news of Ms. P passing I was numb. As, Ms. P was a great lady and an awesome teacher. I was lucky to have been taught by her in Junior and Senior year, along with being in her homeroom senior year. She has a huge impact on all those she taught. She was always cheerful, and it was always great to hear her stories about her trips. I then was excited when my nephews and nieces were able to have her as a teacher at St. Barbara Elementary School. They all loved Ms. P, and when they graduated and returned to school, it was to see Ms P. We were both honored last year, as she received the Sister Mary Grandys Award and I received the Father Skupien Award. I remember when were standing up there posing for photos, she told me she was very proud of my accomplishments, and my dedication to St. Barbara. Guess dedication is something I learned from her too. When you enjoy doing something in life, you become very dedicated. Guess that is something else we had in common, our dedication to St. Barbara School. I could go on and on about this great lady, but don't want to take the whole book up.

She will be deeply missed, but guess Heaven needed an great English teacher up there. But Ms. P will forever be in the hearts of those that knew her.

I know no words can every comfort the family, as this is a huge loss to them. But I do find comfort knowing she is pain free and at rest. Felice, I know you will be lost without your sister and best friend, as you two were always doing things together. She might not be your passenger in the car, as she will be watching right over your protecting her sister.

Eternal Rest Grant on to Ms P. Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her, may her and all the departed rest in peace. Amen

St. Mary pray for her
St. Barbara pray for her

Dear old friends and neighbors, we were deeply saddened to hear of your loss... Dorle' was such a wonderful person! I don't think I ever saw her without a smile on her face, she always had such a happy "glow" around her. That smile was contagious, I don't think anyone could be in a bad mood around her. All of us who knew her are lucky to have had her in our lives, she was such positive energy. I am sure that energy lives on in many shapes and forms and in all the many lives she touched. Please accept our sincere condolences and know that we are thinking of and praying for you. Think of you all often and miss our favorite next door neighbors! Love to you all, Susan Gaede Murphy

Still sad about Big P's passing. Right below my mom, she was an extraordinarily beautiful human being. I used to visit her at the HS for years after I had graduated....just to say, "hi." I wish I had never stopped....I regret having stopped.
My very first time ever on an airplane, I went to Europe with her and several others. She was amazing and soooo fun. She made me take a photo with a French waiter that liked me....so I did. I even tried to get her to date my uncle bc he like her....lol. She knew my love for funky shoes, so she would always look for me in the hallway to tell me the latest crazy shoes she would see and Nordstrom that made her think of me. Particularly orange shoes.
At her wake the other day, our old principal, Ms. Rzasa, said to me, "oh she loooooved you. She would let you get away with everything!" Yes she did. I think she appreciated the fact that I, pretty much, wasn't afraid to be myself even if I was ridiculed and I loved her very much for it.
Not very many people have the ability to touch a person's heart, but she was one to do so. She touched my heart and the heart of many others. I'm really sad knowing she is no longer on this earth, but for as long as I live, I will never ever forget her. Rest in peace, Big P. It was an honor knowing you and I will miss you dearly.
