Arlene Lillian Shillis

Arlene Shillis (née Lumpp), 82, formerly of Chicago, IL and Ocean City, Maryland, most recently of Elgin, IL, passed away on September 4, 2025. She was born December 11, 1942, in Chicago, grew up in Bridgeport, moved to Maryland in 2001, and returned to Illinois two years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Shillis and by most of her immediate family.

She is survived by her three children, Thomas (Trinette) Risley, William (Brenda) Risley, and Lisa (Mark) Warunek; two grandchildren, Kiana Sage Risley and Kaleb Skye Risley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arlene was strong-willed and outspoken but also generous and loyal. She had many friends and was always ready to help anyone, even a stranger. She will be remembered and missed by her children, her friends, and several nieces and nephews.

No funeral services will be held at this time. A private memorial may be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arlene’s memory to the Sepsis Alliance (www.sepsis.org) or the American Lung Association (www.lung.org).
