Bruce Alan Norman, 74, passed away peacefully on July 3rd surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. Beloved husband of Janice G (Fawcett); loving father of Janice Michelle (Joe) Lulay and devoted daughter, Amy Beth Norman. Devoted and loving son of the late William H. (late Step-Mother, Jean) Norman. Dear son of the late Ursula Cedar. Loving brother of William M. (Sandy) Norman, Thomas H. (Carol) Norman. Loving brother-in-law of Joellen Fawcett. Proud and loving uncle to Jeffery (Jandaira) Norman, Kate (Maxx) Lopez, Michael (Lauren) Norman and Sarah Norman (fiancé Brian Graziose). Proud great-uncle to Michael (MJ), Elizabeth (Lizzy) and Benjamin (Ben).
Bruce was a proud U.S. Marine Corp. Veteran who served his country during the Viet Nam War. He was a proud and long time member of American Legion Central Park Post #1028 and enjoyed spending time with his fellow comrades. He participated in the National Poppy Day each May to honor the fallen and support the living who have worn our nation's uniform. He and his wife also helped plan the annual post Christmas Party.
Bruce's father passed down the joy of traveling to Door County, WI to his entire family. Their dad retired to Ellison Bay, WI and each 4th of July the family gathered to celebrate at his house. Bruce looked forward to the Bailey's Harbor Parade and Gills Rock fireworks at night. He managed to travel there numerous times each year to enjoy the beauty and nature of the area.
Bruce retired from Illinois Bell/Ameritech Services in the Transportation Dept and enjoyed a long and restful retirement. He was a member of Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church and served as a Church Trustee for many years helping to keep everything in working order. He was also an Alternate Director at Bethania Cemetery.
Animals were near and dear to Bruce's heart. He loved his Golden Retriever, Lucky, and his two cats, Micki & Sox. He didn't know in the beginning how to handle cats but he learned and they took to him. He kept whistling for them like a dog. We'd always laugh. Bruce kept in touch with many of his high school and marine corps buddies. He truly enjoyed that.
