Dorothy Florence Janik ( nee Wloszek) 88, Beloved Wife of the late John, passed away peacefully in her home on the 3rd of July, 2023.
Loving mother of Debra (James) O'Malley, Daniel (Jean) Janik, and Mary Jo Janik. Dearest grandmother to Joseph (Angela) O'Malley, Matthew (Sean) O'Malley, Andrew (Mia) Janik, Nicole (John Paul) Kulick, Jenna (Jonathan) Lipke, and Sydney Janik. Great grandmother to Avery Janik and Dorothy Lipke.
Dear daughter of the late Jan and the late Marianna Wloszek. Proceeded in death by her 9 siblings: Frank Wloszek, Sophie (Nicholas) Myskinski, Joseph (Madeline) Wloszek, Walter Wloszek, Helen (Stanley) Jablonski, Frances (Ervin) Dybisz, Edward Wloszek, Stanley (Musan) Wloszek and Anne (Daniel) Biskoski. Beloved Godmother, Aunt and Great Aunt to several nieces and nephews. Best friend to Bolka Wisniewski, and dearest friend to many.
She lived in the Bridgeport house she was born in on the southside of Chicago for 80 years before moving to Palos Heights. She was secretary at St. Mary of Perpetual Help high school from 1978 until it closed, and then transitioned to St. Mary's parish secretary until her retirement in 2015 at the tender age of 80.
Dorothy traveled frequently to Florida and liked spending time in the sunshine. She also enjoyed her bunco group of over two decades, crocheting, and occasionally playing cards and games with family.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 9, 2023 from 3-8 pm and Monday, July 10, 2023 from 8-9:15 am at Walter Pomierski Funeral Home, 1059 West 32nd Street, Chicago, IL 60608. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday 10 am at St. Mary of Perpetual Help Church, 1039 West 32nd Street, Chicago, IL 60608. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. (773)927-6424
