Irene Toras

Irene Patricia Toras began her ascent to Heaven on Wednesday, July 15th, 2020 at the age of 70. She came to earth October 10,1949 in Midlothian, Illinois via Thomas and Evelyn Noonan. She was married to John Peter Toras and the loving mother of three children: Jeremy, Jason, and Jennifer. Sister to:: Thomas, Terrence, Kathleen, and Robert. Grandmother to: Karmin, Kayla, Zachary, and Eliana. Aunt, cousin, and friend to anyone she came across.

Irene was whimsical, witty, and she effortlessly brought people  closer. She crafted a world filled with love, laughter, a story or anecdote that allowed you to see more, feel more, be more, feel understood/ accepted with a mighty nod, a clever wink, assuring smile, and kindling curiosity. Her words painted vivid pictures, her vocabulary was captivating, and she initiated playful banter that kept you enthralled. Her heart had reach, depth, and was consistently open. She lifted others up, and made you feel part of the adventure, and every celebration provided a reason for her to make you feel special. If you weren't feeling quite right she would wield her magical ways and infuse belief, courage, and just the right amount of mischief. (She knew no strangers and made friends wherever she went.) She was everyone's favorite aunt, mother, family member, neighbor, party guest, cousin, and person. If you knew Irene, there was always a place for you at her table, in the back yard, and she always made herself available for those in need. Kids ran up to her with a big grin and open arms. Grown ups were eager to hear a story, bend her ear, or grab some giggles. (Family gathered to get their unique dose of specialness and a slice of Irene.) The butterflies will be lonely and the daisies will be looking for a home.

A Celebration of Life will take place October 10, 2020 from 2-5:00 p.m. at Walter  Pomierski & Son Funeral Home, 1059 West 32nd Street, Chicago, IL 60608. A Memorial Service will begin at 4:00 p.m. (773) 927-6424.
