John Kaput, fondly known as Jack to friends and family.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon (nee Tocco) Kaput of 49 years, his beautiful children Jason (Jennifer) Kaput, Carly (Roderick) Martinez, Leah (Bill) White and his grandchildren Jacob and Sophia Kaput and Maverick Martinez. Beloved son of the late Stanley and the late Veronica (nee Jarosz). Youngest brother to (the late) David (late Geraldine), Ronald (Barbara), Michaline (Ted) Hunter, Ellen (the late Gerald) Pietrzak. Brother in law to Thomas (Jeanette)Tocco, late Terry (Debbie) Tocco,Linda (Sal) Gomez, and Michelle Haepp. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was a cousin and great friend to all that knew him.
He was born and raised in Chicago were he attended St. Barbara School, and then went on to De LaSalle. He attended Loyola and went on to become a Chicago Police Officer. He retired after 34 years as a Forensic Investigator.
He was an avid reader and lover of sci-fi and technology. He had a hunger for knowledge and was a lifelong learner. He loved fishing and the outdoors. He was a master rascal and prankster; kind, caring, and tenacious. He was small in stature but large in heart. People always seemed to gravitate towards him. He was a problem solver, and a peacekeeper. He never shied away from a challenge. In his words, he was a jack of all trades and master of none. His many wonderful qualities, and the bright light of his spirit and warm and welcoming heart will continue to shine in his children and grandchildren.
Our hearts are broken, but we knew this day would come as he had battled with dementia for over a decade. He had many health setbacks but responded with resiliency until his greatest challenge, cancer, which eventually wore down his body but never his spirit. He leaves behind a rich legacy and will be missed dearly
