Marie A. Salem, nee Paulauskis, age 94, died September 18, 2020 at her home in Chicago. She is the beloved wife of the late Willie.
Mrs. Salem was born on Octocer 8, 1929 in Centralia, Illinois to Margaret and William Paulauskis. Her family moved to Chicago soon after. Marie was a life-long resident of the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. She loved to swim at the "Y", attend Catholic church services and visit the local riverboat casinos in between trips to Las Vegas. She had a successful career as a waitress, most notably at "David's" restaurant until it burned down in 1984.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" and Marlene Waleszonia; grandchildren Dawn (Joseph) Doe and Nicholas (Dorie) Waleszonia; and great-grandchildren Brandon, Austin, and Ethan.
A 10:00 a.m. mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, October 1, 2020 at St. Mary of Perpetual Help Church, 1039 West 32nd Street, Chicago, IL 60608. Marie, will be interred at St. Casimir Cemetery following mass. Due to the COVID restrictions, masks are to be worn and social distancing maintained at mass. Thank you. (773)927-6424.
