Marie Squires

Marie Squires (nee Zakes), 90, of Chicago, passed away 9/3/2021. Marie was a 1953 graduate of St. Xavier University School of Nursing earning her BSN. Marie worked 24 years at Mercy Hospital Chicago then 26 years at Illinois Masonic Hospital of Chicago as a neonatal nurse.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, Orrin R. Squires, Jr.; her brother, Walter Zakes; and parents Walter and Casimira Zakes (nee Skrzypczynski). Marie is survived by her children, Daniel Squires, Louise Gilles, and Constance Kincaid. Marie was grandmother of 7, great-grandmother of 9, and great-great-grandmother of 1.

Visitation Friday, September 24 from 4-8:00 pm and Saturday September 25 from 8:30 - 9:30 am at Pomierski & Son Funeral Home, 1059 West 32nd Street,  Chicago. A funeral mass will be 10:00 am at St. Mary of Perpetual Help Church, 1039 W. 32nd Street. Luncheon to follow mass. Burial will be private. (773)927-6424.
