Mary J. Polino

Mary Jean Polino, age 71, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on September 21, 2025. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Polino; her cherished son, Michael Polino; her treasured sister, Alex Barclay; and her dear parents, Alex and Albina Navickas. She is survived by her loving children, Nicholas Polino, Alannah Entingh, and Gabrielle Polino; her devoted siblings, Tricia Simmons and Michael Navickas; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Mary was an avid animal lover and a gifted photographer with an infectious laugh and a whimsical nature. The smallest act of kindness meant the universe to Mary, and she was always ready with a helping hand, a listening ear, a comforting word, or a lighthearted joke. Regardless of the tragic trajectory her life took, Mary held a deeply rooted love for and belief in family throughout. She was considered a sister by many of her friends and known affectionately as the “resident mom” to many. Mary told all her loved ones “I love you” at the end of every conversation.

Mary will be remembered as a decent, hardworking, thoughtful person with a profound sense of justice. She asked only the same of her children and would light up with pride any time one of their decisions aligned with those unshakeable values. Mary is the reason every day should be Mother’s Day, as she did everything possible and more for her children. She held her limitless empathy and caring nature in her loving eyes and genuine smile to her final day. Her kindness, compassion, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She didn’t subscribe to a major religion, but, at times, swore by the presence of spirits. She is deeply missed and her positive influence will live on.

The family invites relatives and friends to share memories, condolences, and messages of support on the attached tribute page.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held at Pomierski Funeral Home, 1059 West 32nd Street, Chicago on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 2 until 6:00 pm.
