Samantha Chuskas

Samantha was a selfless and devoted woman who always put her children first. She was a loving mother, sister, wife, and a true friend to everyone she met. Her presence filled every room — her laughter, warmth, and energy made her the life of any gathering.

Samantha was a force to be reckoned with- she prided herself for being both resourceful and frugal. There was no such thing as a stranger to her and she wasn't afraid to say what everyone else was thinking at any time.

Samantha had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people. She could talk to anyone, offering comfort, humor, and understanding in equal measure. Her bravery inspired those around her, filling others with hope and light even during her most challenging times. Her strength was endless, and her smile unforgettable. No matter what she faced, Samantha carried herself with a unique charm and resilience, never allowing her struggles to overshadow her love for others. Her heart knew no boundaries — she made everyone she met feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Samantha built an incredible life through hard work, humility, and generosity. She helped anyone in need, always making time for the people she loved most. Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to live on through her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Samantha was the beloved wife of Mike Cortez; mother of Michael, Max and Mia; dear sister of Leo, Roy, Andrea,  and Sara; daughter of the late Roy and late Leona Chuskas; Godmother, aunt, and friend of many.

Family and friends will gather for visitation Friday, October 24, 2025 from 3 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, October 25, from 8 to 9:30 am at Walter Pomierski & Son Funeral Home, 1059 West 32nd Street, Chicago. A 10:00 am mass will follow at St. Mary of Perpetual Help Church, 1039 West 32nd Street, Chicago. Interment will be at St. Casimir Cemetery. (773)927-6424.
